In
order to encourage innovation and interdisciplinary University-wide
collaborations, Tufts University Center for Children offers
mini-grants to faculty and students. The grants advance
research, teaching and advocacy agendas for children, youth,
their families and communities.
During
the 2002-2003 academic year, the Center, along with the
University College
of Citizenship and Public Service developed and
supported the Student
Project Initiative. The initiative proved to be
a success, and the Center and University College sponsored
a second and third year of student projects in 2003-2004
and 2004-2005, which they renamed Applied Research Projects.
The response was enthusiastic, as the initiative received
double the number of proposals from the first year, with
submissions from graduate and undergraduate students from
all of Tufts seven schools. The Center and University College
is proud to continue this success, and is sponsoring the
Applied Research Projects for the fourth consecutive year,
with this year's Request for Proposals focusing on preventing
childhood obesity (see link below).
Faculty
grants and fellowships will be added as funding allows.
